RIFT VALLEY SAFARI TOUR

Ethiopia is endowed with diverse attractions be it wild life, Parks which host endemic animals, existing amazing culture for centuries, nature, diverse landscape, beautiful lakes,  history etc. Here under we are focusing on national parks and lakes. But we can include cultural safaris to the South Omo valley.            

DAY 1. ADDIS ABABA CITY TOUR

Am arrival in Addis Ababa(AA), after meeting the guide from Julian tour and Travel,  and  Check in hotel, make an excursion starting with visit of the head quarter of African Union in the city and Trinity Cathedral. Continue to the Ethnological Museum, the National Museum(House of Lucy), and the Entoto Mountain Range.  Overnight stay hotel.

DAY 2. ADDIS ABABA – AWASH NATIONAL PARK (225Kms  Asphalt)

Am earily morning drive to Awash National park en-route visit Lake Bishoftu, one of the creator lakes in the rift valley area. Late in the afternoon excursion in Awash National park, the 1st national park in Ethiopia. Spotting various wild life’s, specious of birds and enjoying the spectacular scenery of the Awash fall/gorge, and this is most preferred site for bird watching.  Overnight in Lodge, which is in the park or camping.    

DAY 3. AWASH - LANGANO

After you visit the game drive in the park, precede drive to Langano resort early en-routevisit Zeway lake and have bout trip to spot different species of birds. Overnight stay hotel.

DAY 4. LANGANO -  HAWASSA(83kms Asphalt)

Langano Lack with an area of 230m2 and 46mts depth is the only lack which is free of Bilharzia. So in the morning you can swim and scan different species of birds on the beach. Then drive to Awassa en-route visit Abjata shalla national park which hosts a number of Aquatic birds like great white pelicans Ostriches, and lesser flamingo’s. Nearby sightseeing Abijata lake(14m deep and is a feeding lake for birds) and Shala Lake(260m deep) separated only by 3 km strip of land. Overnight stay hotel.

DAY 5. HAWASSA -BALE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK(225kms)

Am early morning,  you will be able to visit the daily fish market in Awasa Lake. Here you will be able to see Tilapia fishing and daily fish marketing by the locals as well as a variety of birdlife. Proceed driving to Bale to visit mammals such as Mount Niyala, Minilik Bush buck, Ethiopian Wolf, Bohor reedbucks, Warthogs ethe Gaint Mole rat all endemic mamals etc.. En-route enjoying the beautiful scenery throughout. Overnight stay lodge.

DAY 6 - 8. BALE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

Bale Mountain National Bank is known for its wild life. Over 60 mammal species and 260 bird species, out of which 13 are endemic birds and can be easily seen there. (The park stretches over 2400km2 and ranges in altitude from 1500 - 4377meters in Tulu Dimtu).   

Am after breakfast drive or trekking to various places of the national park(to be described latter  as per the clients demand) up to Tulu Dimtu the 2nd highest place in Ethiopia and enjoy with the scenic view and have a visit of some animals and  different species of birds. Overnight stay camping.

Also possible to drive throughout this rout (Dinsho, Tulu Dimitu - Gebreguracha – Goba in one day.

DAY 9.  GOBA –  HARENA - GOBA(120KM)

Drive to Harena and enjoy with the densely situated Jungle and finally in the late afternoon drive back to Goba. Overnight stay hotel

DAY 10.  GOBA – WONDOGENET

Early morning drive to Wondogenet you will be able to visit the panoramic view of Wondogenet, interesting and breathe taking densely situated forests. Hiking to the forests and see various specious of birds and Columbus monkey. Enjoy the hot springs & swim.  Then make Overnight stay in hotel.   

DAY 11. WONDOGENET – CHENCHA - ARBAMINCH  

Early morning after breakfast drive to Arbaminch(means 40 springs in Amharic) via Shashemeni, Alaba and Sodo. De-route visit Senkele Wildlife Sanctuary to watch the Swayne's Hartebeest. Then proceed driving and have Lunch in Sodo/Wolayita area. After lunch keep on driving, de-route visit the Dorze village at Chencha and their colorful dresses, their handcrafts, their elephant like huts  and cultural settings. Then heading to Arbaminch for overnight stay in hotel. 

DAY 12. ARBAMINCH - ARBAMINCH

After breakfast and have lunch box with you, drive to lake Chamo highly contained with aquatic habitats mainly of crocodiles (the biggest in Africa with length over 6m), birds and Hippos which is accompanied by crocodile market. Then crossing the lake to the Nech sar National park and take time to see a herd of the endemic Swayne's hartebeests for 2nd time, Burchell's zebras and other big animals.  Then you will get back to Arbaminch. Overnight stay in hotel. 

DAY 13. ARBAMINCH - ADDIS ABABA (Flight is also possible)  

Am after breakfast drive to Addis Ababa enjoying the panoramic view of the landscape. En- route visit Melka - qounture archeological site. Visiting also Tiya stele which is among UNESCO registered world heritage sites of Ethiopia. After arrival in Addis Ababa shopping and watching cultural dance of different ethnic groups of Ethiopia in a traditional Restaurant. Late evening back home.
